SturdyCare has been a true blessing for our family. The aide who comes every morning is punctual, gentle, and treats my mother with so much dignity. We've tried two other agencies before and the difference is night and day. I finally feel like I can go to work without worrying.

The nurse who handles my dad's medication management is incredibly thorough. She caught a dosing issue early on and coordinated directly with his doctor. That level of attention to detail is exactly what we needed. The on-call support after hours has also been reliable every single time.

My grandmother speaks Somali and very little English. SturdyCare matched us with a caregiver who understood her background and made her feel comfortable right away. She laughs now during her morning visits. That means everything to our family.

Navigating the HCBS waiver process felt overwhelming until SturdyCare's care coordinator stepped in. She walked us through every form and timeline, connected us with the MCO, and made sure services started on time. We didn't feel like a number — we felt like a family they actually cared about.

My mother-in-law is very particular about who she lets into her home. She was reluctant at first, but within a week she was asking when her caregiver was coming next. The consistency and warmth of the staff made all the difference. Communication with the office has been easy and responsive too.

After my stroke I was worried I'd have to move to a facility. SturdyCare helped me stay in my own home. My aide helps with bathing and exercises, and honestly she's become part of my routine. I feel safer, more independent, and more like myself again. I recommend them to anyone who asks.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions families ask most when starting home care services.

How do I know if my loved one qualifies for home care services?
Eligibility depends on the specific service. Many waiver and Medicaid services require a DHS-approved assessment through your MCO or county case manager. Nursing services may be ordered by your physician. Contact us and we'll guide you through eligibility — no charge for the initial consultation.
What funding sources do you accept?
We work with Minnesota Medical Assistance (Medicaid), HCBS waivers, UCare Minnesota, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Veteran Benefits, MCO plans, and private pay. Services may also be covered through long-term care insurance. Contact us to verify your specific coverage.
How quickly can care start?
For private-pay services, we can typically begin within a few days of your initial assessment. For Medicaid or waiver-funded services, the timeline depends on your MCO or county authorization. We work to move as quickly as possible — especially in urgent situations.
Which counties do you serve?
We serve clients across multiple Minnesota counties including Hennepin, Ramsey, Anoka, Wright, Sherburne, Dakota, and Stearns. Client acceptance depends on staffing availability rather than strict county borders — if your county isn't listed, please contact us. We continue expanding coverage to meet community needs.
What is Home Care Nursing (T1002 / T1003)?
T1002 and T1003 are Minnesota Medicaid billing codes for Home Care Nursing services — visits by a licensed RN or LPN to assess, monitor, and provide clinical care at home. These services are ordered by a physician and covered under Medical Assistance. They differ from personal care (which does not require a nurse).
Can I choose my caregiver?
Yes. We make every effort to match you with a caregiver based on skills, schedule, language, and cultural preferences. If a match isn't working well, just let us know — we'll find a better fit at no extra cost.
